90s Animation Gothic Horror (WIP)

This project is an attempt to capture the style of 80s/90s animation like Jin Roh, Vampire Hunter D, Memories and Ghost in the Shell in UE5 using a split post process that handles the environment and animated objects in their own passes.
The enviroment is made up of fairly low-poly models with textures that are a combination of handpainted and created in Substance Designer, while the character is rendered in a custom cel-shaded style.
I created several tool blueprints as well to make the construction of stairs, paths and houses quicker and more customisable.
There's also a realm switching mechanic akin to the one seen in Soul Reaver that can warp geometry and change the environment by temporarily switching to skeletal meshes for the transition animation before changing back to a static mesh to maintain performance during player-controlled gameplay.
Unfortunately this project is currently in the freezer for when I'll have some free time to work on it again.
